Biofilm and silicone implants
This is not a theory. This is not a conspiracy. This is a real, proven mechanism that explains why so many women get sick, and no one tells them the real reason.
1. What is biofilm?
A biofilm is not an ordinary infection. It is an organized bacterial colony, protected by its own biological shell. The bacteria inside don't float around freely, they attach to a surface, communicate with each other, and defend themselves as a community. Your body doesn't recognize it as a classic infection. Your immune system senses it, but it can't eliminate it. The result is a chronic, constant irritation that doesn't stop.
2. Which bacteria are involved?
Most often, these are bacteria that normally live on the skin and in the body without causing a problem. The main ones are:
Staphylococcus epidermidis
Staphylococcus aureus
Cutibacterium acnes
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
They don't come in with a bang. They come in quietly, during surgery, through the skin, through the air, through instruments. Then they settle on the implant.
3. The connection with silicone breast implants
A silicone implant is a foreign body. The body cannot accept it as its own. Its surface is ideal for bacteria to attach to. Especially when it is textured or microtextured. This creates the ideal environment for a biofilm. No pain at first. No fever. No classic symptoms. Just quiet, constant inflammation.
4. Which implants form biofilm?
The truth is harsh. All silicone implants can form biofilm. The risk is higher with textured implants, rough surfaces, longer stays in the body, repeat surgeries, capsular contracture. No brand is immune.
There is no safe silicone.
5. Why antibiotics don't help
Antibiotics work against free bacteria. Biofilm is not free. The biofilm shell acts as a shield. The antibiotic cannot penetrate. Even if it kills some of the bacteria, the colony survives. That's why tests are often negative. That's why doctors say there's no infection. That's why symptoms come back again and again.
6. How it triggers an autoimmune reaction
The body senses that something is wrong. Constantly. The immune system is in chronic alert. It can't turn off the alarm. It starts producing inflammatory mediators. It starts going haywire. It starts attacking its own tissues. You get chronic fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, hair loss, skin problems, hormonal disruptions, anxiety and depression, strange and unexplained body aches. It's not in your head. It's biology.
The truth that is rarely told
As long as the implant is in the body, the biofilm has a home. Antibiotics, supplements, therapies, everything is a temporary measure. The only permanent solution is to remove the implant along with the capsule. Everything else is a postponement. And the price is paid with health.
